The Appeal Court judgement which proclaimed that the Parliament Select Committee has no authority to examine an impeachment against a Supreme Court Judge was annulled by the Supreme Court today.

A bench of five Supreme Court Judges comprising Saleem Marsoof, Chandra Ekanayake, Sathya Hettige, Eva Wanasundera and Rohini Marasinghe has over ruled the earlier Appeal Court judgement today.

The five Supreme Court Judges have stated that parliament is a supreme body, and no Court has powers to give orders on it.

Supreme Court dismisses Appeal Court verdict on former Chief Justice

The Appeal Court judgement which proclaimed that the Parliament Special Committee has no authority to examine an impeachment against a Supreme Court Judge was dismissed by the Supreme Court today.

A panel of five Supreme Court Judges including Saleem Malik, Chandra Ekanayake, Sathya Hettige, Eva Wanasundera and Rohini Marasinghe has dismissed the Appeal Court judgement today.
