UPDATE: 8 month old infant dies following food choke.

8 month old infant from Poddalgoda area, at Rangala, Kandy has died from choking on food this morning.

According to police media sources, the accident has occurred when the mother was feeding rice porridge to the infant.

The infant has died while being admitted to Theldeniya Hospital.

Speaking to our news team regarding the post mortem of the infant, the Inquirer into Sudden Death at Udispattuwa-North P.K. Abeyratne expressed that this death has occurred due to the child choking on food.

4-year-old Syrian refugee found alone in desert


A 4-year-old Syrian refugee who as reportedly discovered alone in the middle of the desert was reunited with his family across the border in Jordan, a United Nations official said Sunday.

The boy, Marwan, had apparently become separated from his mother when he was spotted by humanitarian workers for the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. According to the group, the boy was carrying a small plastic bag.

Andrew Harper, a UNHCR representative to Jordan, tweeted a photo of the unusual discovery.
