The Sri Lanka Army has provided another opportunity to females from the Wanni and the East to serve in the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force.

Accordingly 100 females from Killinochchi and 50 from the Eastern Province would be recruited to the Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps.

Upon basic training the recruits will be employed in their own areas mainly for civil coordination activities.

Army Spokesperson Brigadier Ruwan Wanigasooriya also stated that recruitments were done on a voluntary basis and there was no forceful recruitment.
