Tamil Nadu police seized 200 Million Rupees worth gold biscuits weighing more than 35 kg at Mandapam railway station.

Police said, the Coastal Security Group was keeping track of the smuggled gold, after it was taken on high seas from a Sri Lanka-based agent, who had come in a fibre glass boat, and handed over the gold to two fishermen, who had come in a country boat from Rameshwaram.

Police said, a Madurai-based agent joined the fishermen at Rameshwaram, and after taking the smuggled gold in a hired car was returning to Madurai, when he got suspicious, left the car and boarded a bus.

At Mandapan railway station, he left the two bags and absconded.
