The Sri Lanka Muslim Congress has lodged a complaint against Sinhala Ravaya at the Akkaraipaththu police station.

The Sinhala Ravaya engaged in various protests demanding a ban on cattle slaughter in the country in the recent past.

Akkaraipaththu Urban Council Opposition Leader and SLMC member S.L.M. Hanifa told our news team that his party made the complaint with regard to the Sihala Ravaya campaign against cattle slaughter.

Several members of Sihala Ravaya staged a fast unto death in front of the Fort Railway Station on the 18th of this month and demanded the government to introduce new laws to ban cattle slaughter.

The monk who self immolated in protest of cattle slaughter in Kandy a few months ago was also a Sihala Ravaya member.

However our news team contacted officials of the Akkaraipaththu police to verify the SLMC complaint today.

A senior officer attached to the Akkaraipaththu police station confirmed that a SLMC member has made such a complaint.
