Discussion on Allied Health dispute fails
The Inter University Students Federation stated that its discussion with the University Grants Commission on the Allied Health Science Degree program failed today.
Federation Convener Najith Indika told our news team that his union would continue its protest as the University Grants Commission failed to address their problem.
When our news team contacted University Grants Commission Chairperson Kshanika Hirimburegama, she said that she would consult the Attorney General and take a decision accordingly
The protest launched by the Inter University Students Federation against reducing the study period from four years to three for the Allied Health Science Degree will complete 63 days tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the representatives of the Inter University Students’ Federation and University Grants Commission held a discussion today.
Reporters including a journalist from Hiru FM, who arrived to cover the event, were stalled by a security officer at the premises.
Our reporter also stated that the alleged security officer displayed misconduct at the time.
The reporters have informed UGC Chairman Kshanika Hirimburegama regarding the matter and she had extended her apologies to the reporters.
The alleged security officer, Anura, too has apologized to the reporters.
