Update :Video: Police suspect a single armed group shot at the residencies of two top Excise Officers
Police suspect the two attacks, one on the Ja-Ela, Pamunugama residence of Excise Commissioner General Wasantha Hapu Aarchchi and the other on the Rukmalgama Kottawa residence of Special Investigation Unit OIC of the Excise Department were carried out by the same armed group.
Police Media spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said that four police teams have been deployed to investigate the two incidents.
Several gun shots were fired at Excise Commissioner General’s residence about 2.15am while the Special Investigation Unit OIC’s residence was shot at about 3am.
Glass windows of the Excise Commissioner General’s residence and a stationary vehicle were damaged in the shooting.
Police Media Spokesman said that no person has been injured in the shootings.
Speaking to the media at his home, Special Investigation Unit OIC Rosmand Fernando said that his home was shot at on an earlier occasion as well.
He also said that the same kind of bullets have been shot at his house as well as the house belonging to the Excise Commissioner General.

The house of Excise Commissioner General Wasantha HapuAarachchi situated at Pamunugama in Ja-ela and the house of Special Excise Investigation Unit OIC Rosmond Fernando situated at Rukmalgama in Kottawa were fired at this dawn.
The police media spokesman’s office says that the house of Excise Commissioner Director General was fired at, at about 2 a.m. today.
As a result of the shooting damage has been caused to the windows of the Director General’s house and a vehicle parked near the house.
Meanwhile the firing at the house of Special Excise Investigation Unit OIC Rosmond Fernando had taken place at about 3 this dawn.
However the police says that this shooting also had not harmed anyone.
Police Media spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said that several special squads had begun investigations with regard to the incident.
