Police have commenced investigations concerning an institute allegedly earning profits by promising to send students abroad for a nominal expense.

According to the Police Media Spokesman Ajith Rohana, the police have arrested a person who ran the institute which promised to send students for higher studies in England.

The suspect has acquired 8 million rupees from various persons and has fled the country. About 23 complaints have been lodged against him.

The SSP said that the institute was based in Melbourne Avenue, Colombo 4.
