President Mahinda Rajapaksa stated that just as the challenge of terrorism was successfully overcome, the development challenge shall also be won.
The President expressed these views addressing a meeting that was held at the Kaduwela - Kotalawala Maha Vidyalaya grounds after the opening of the first phase of the Outer Circular highway from Kaduwela to Kottawa.
President Rajapaksa stated that the public does not wish to see a halt in development work.
Following the event, the President also obtained blessings at the Nawagamuwa Paththini Devalaya in Kaduwela.

President Mahinda Rajapakse states that Sri lanka has always given priority to women and gave an example to the world.
President made this statement participating at the launch of the LIYA ISURU special interest free loan scheme for women entrepreneurs at the Sugathadasa Indoor stadium.
Under this loan scheme implemented by the Regional Development Bank, an interest free loan of maximum 200 thousand rupees will be extended to women entrepreneurs without the need for collateral irrespective of their age limit.
A sum of 32 thousand million rupees has been allocated for disbursement this year.
This is the first time in the history of this country that a loan scheme of this nature is implemented to create a dedicated set of women entrepreneurs in the country.
