TNA praises US backed anti Sri lankan resolution
Mauritius states that it co-sponsored the U.S. resolution against Sri Lanka intending to protect the human rights of all Sri Lankans.
Mauritius Foreign Minister Arvin Boolell stated that nobody pressurized his country to support the Anti Sri Lankan resolution at Geneva UN Human Rights Commission.
The U.S, U.K , Montenegro, Macedonia, and Mauritius proposed a draft proposal asking a full review to the human right situation in Sri Lanka and re-submit a new report to the UN Human Rights Commission in March next year.
It is reported that an unofficial meeting will be held today regarding the report presented to the UN human rights council against Sri Lanka.
It is also reported that representatives of Britain and the US along with several other European Nations are scheduled to participate in the discussion.
The first round of discussion was held day before yesterday and Pakistan directly supported Sri lanka during the discussion while Russia, China, Cuba and Venezuela expressed their objection to the US proposal.
However India maintained a silent policy during the discussion.
Meanwhile TNA leader MP R. Sampandan and Northern Provincial Chief Minister C.V. Wigneswaran have released a joint statement with regard to the U.S. backed Anti Sri Lankan resolution brought before the UN Human Rights Commission in Geneva.
