Update : Video: Human rights activist arrested for giving shelter to former LTTE cadre who fired at Police
Police arrested a woman who has provided shelter to the former LTTE member Bobby, who opened fire at a police team in Dharma-puram, Killinochchi and fled.
According to the police spokesman, the alleged woman Baalendra Jaya-kumari who is a resident of Dharma-puram was produced before courts yesterday where she was ordered to be detained further.
She has been a human rights activist who has also led protests concerning the disappeared.
TNA has accused that she was arrested together with her 13 year old daughter, Vidhushika.
However, the statement is denied by Police media spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana who said that Vidhushika has not been arrested, but handed over for probation.
Police spokesman further said that, Baalendra Jaya-kumari was arrested for providing shelter to a criminal, and that they have not considered her past records.
When the police attempted to arrest the suspect at Dharma-puram in Killinochchi last 13th, the suspect fired at the police injuring a sub Inspector.
Meanwhile, the Army has made a statement that they will corporate with the special operation launched by the Police to arrest the alleged suspect.

Army to assist police in search of LTTE cadre who shot at police
The suspect who fired at a police unit in Dharma-puram, Kilinochchi and fled the scene has been identified as a former LTTE cadre named Bopi.
A Sub Police Inspector was injured yesterday, when the suspect fired at police who tried to arrest him.
Police have already commenced a special operation to arrest the former LTTE member.
Expressing his views regarding the matter, Army media spokesman Brigadier Ruwan Wanigasuriya said that they will extend their support to ongoing operations to arrest the suspect.
