Assessments unfair and an unbalanced - says Minister of External Affairs
Minister of External Affairs Prof. G. L. Peiris states that the assessments regarding Sri Lanka, are both unfair and unbalanced.
Minister of External Affairs Prof. G. L. Peiris made this statement while taking part in the Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group meeting held in London.
Speaking during the press conference following the CMAG meeting Prof. Peiris stated that the Sri Lankan government has taken many steps to promote reconciliation in Sri Lanka.
However, Prof. Peiris also stated that certain countries are continuing to act without any regard to the action taken by Sri Lanka in this regard.
Taking part in the press conference, the Secretary General of the Commonwealth Kamalesh Sharma stated that no country can be given a finite time period to build reconciliation following a conflict.
Elaborating further he stated that he rejects claims that the Commonwealth is non active with regard to the issues in Sri Lanka.
