The first political killing in connection with the Western and Southern Provincial Council elections 2014 was reported from Kimbul Wila Watta in Dompe this afternoon.
A 62-year old UNP supporter O.K. Piyasena of Kimbul Wila Watta in Dompe who was engaged in election propaganda decorations died during a clash between two groups of political supporters.
An attack has been unleashed on the house at which the victim was making some arrangements for a UNP candidate to hold a propaganda campaign meeting this evening.
Police Media Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said that nobody has been arrested yet in connection with the incident.
Meanwhile police have received 101 election related complaints while Special Unit of the Election Secretariat has received 798 similar complaints so far.
At the same time, PAFFREL Executive director Rohana Hetti Arachchi said that his organization has received 593 complaints relating to the Western and Southern Provincial Council elections.
