Update : More Thunder storms within next 2 months: met department request the public to be cautious

The Meteorological Department warns the public to take caution as heavy thunder showers could be experienced in the next few days.

The Department pointed out that there is a tendency of increasing thunder related accidents in the next two months.

Meteorological Department Director S.R. Jayasekera said that the public should be vigilant when they engage in daily activities.

Intermittent Heavy rains with strong winds and thunder.

The met department states that Cloudy skies with showers will occur at times in the Eastern, North-central Uva and Southern provinces.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at most places elsewhere during the afternoon and night.

Fairly heavy rainfalls about 100 mili meters are also likely at some places.

Director of the meteorology department S R Jayasekara stated that there is a possibility for fairly strong winds along the Eastern slopes of the central hills.
