Another report has been published stating that Tamils in the country are subjected to harassment after the end of the war.

Yasmin Sooka, a South African human rights lawyer and UN adviser, compiled the report from interviews with 40 Tamils who had migrates to Western countries.

She also stated that widespread and systematic violations had taken place.

However, the United Nations says UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon is clear on his views on Sri Lanka and on the issue of accountability over the war.

Responding to a question at the daily press briefing at the UN Headquarters, UN Deputy Spokesman Farhan Haq said that it is up to the member states of the UN Human Rights Council to decide what action needs to be taken on Sri Lanka via the pending resolution.

When inquired from the General Secretary of Patriotic National Movement Dr. Wasantha Bandara, he said that this clearly shows the true aims of Ban Ki-moon’s Darusman Committee members.

Meanwhile, the Unity for the United Sri Lanka organization based in Europe has organized a protest march to garner support of UNHRC member countries to vote against the US sponsored resolution on Sri Lanka when the vote is taken on the 28th.

A mammoth protest rally with the participation of over 5,000 Sri Lankans will be held in front of UNHRC Headquarters in Geneva on the 24th from 11AM.

Sri Lankans living in Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Norway, Sweden and the Netherlands will take part regardless of political affiliation.
