The PoodalU- Oya police arrested two persons in connection with setting fire to forests in the Nuwara Eliya District in the recent past.

The police say that as a result of querying them, disclosures have been made with regard to persons connected with incidents of setting fire to about 2000 acres of reserved land in the recent past.

Accordingly jointly with the Nuwara Eliya District Secretariat, the police has planned to carry out continuous raids for arresting persons setting fire to forests.

Nuwara Eliya District Secretary D.P.G. Kumarasiri said that instructions had been given that full support be provided in carrying out investigations with regard to this.
