Video : Do not bring resolutions against Sri Lanka, Chief Prelates write to Geneva Human Rights Commission.
The Maha Sangha of the three Nikayas have requested the UN Human Rights Council not to pass the Anti Sri Lankan resolution backed by the U.S.
In their letter addressed to the President of the Commission sessions, the Chief Prelates of the three Nakayas stated that as the religious leaders of the country they categorically reject the resolution.
They also said in their letter that the country is moving towards peace, reconciliation and unity after nearly three decades of separatist war.
They pointed out that instead of providing support to Sri Lanka in its post war efforts; this proposed resolution is throwing the country into instability.
Meanwhile JHU stated today that the government should implement a domestic mechanism to investigate all incidents that took place during the war.
At the same time, Sri Lanka Tauheed Jamaad Association held a protest opposite the American Embassy in Colombo this afternoon.
They marched to the Embassy from Fort Railway Station and handed over a petition to the American embassy.
Heavy traffic was experienced in Colpetty and its surrounding areas due to the Tauheed Jamaad protest march this afternoon.
