Election monitoring groups and police say that a peaceful condition prevailed during the first 24 hours after the end of the provincial council election.

However PAFFEREL says information has been received about parades of winning candidates.

PAFFEREL Executive Director Rohana Hettiarachchi requests that on such occasions they behave in a manner that does inconvenience the people.

Police says that further monitoring is being carried out with regard to election regulation violations.
