Communist Party's Weerasumana Weerasinghe appointed for vacant slot in Southern Provincial Council
A decision has been made to appoint Weerasumana Weerasinghe to the remaining provincial council slot available for the Communist Party in the Southern Provincial Council.
The Chief Ministers of both the Western and Southern PCs along with the other Provincial Council Members were sworn in before President Mahinda Rajapakse yesterday.
However, one Provincial Council Ministerial position was not filled yesterday and it was decided to give the Communist party the vacant Provincial Council Position.
As a result of this the Central Working Committee of the Communist Party convened today morning to decide on who will be appointed for the vacant slot and it was decided that Weerasumana Weerasinghe will be appointed to the Southern Provincial Council.
4 ministers representing leftist parties have been selected for the Southern Provincial Council following this election.
3 of those ministers represent the Communist Party and the other minister represents the Samasamaja Party.
