No confidence vote against Government for debate in May.
The no-confidence motion put forward by the UNP alleging that no proper step has been taken for the narcotics menace is scheduled to be taken for debate next May.
The Government party says that two days have been set apart for this.
Chief Opposition Whip MP John Amaratunga handed over the relevant no confidence motion to the Parliamentary Secretary on 21st last February.
The UNP charged that the Government did not speedily provide an opportunity to debate the no-confidence motion concerned.
However our news team inquired about this allegation leveled by the UNP from Chief Government Whip Minister Dinesh Gunawardhana.
Responding to this, the Chief Government Whip said that it was agreed at the recent party heads’ meeting held with the speaker at the chair, to take up the relevant no-confidence motion in May.
