60,000 Breathalyzer balloons to police: special operation from today.
The police has taken steps to launch a special operation from today to minimise accidents taking place due to intoxicated drivers during the festive season.
Police Media Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana told our news team that this operation was being implemented island-wide.
Police Media Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said that even by now action had been taken to provide 60,000 breatheliser balloons to all police stations.
The Police Media Spokesman also said that steps had been taken to implement a special security programme in urban areas during the festive season.
Meanwhile the PHIs say that much care should be taken when buying food items during the festival season.
Colombo Municipal Council PHI unit Chief Food Inspector M. B. Laalkumaara told our news team that two squads comprising 50 PHIs and six Medical Officers of Heatlh had also been deployed for raiding such sites.
Chief Food Inspector M. B. Laalkumaara requested that any information about the sale of food items not suitable for consumption, if known, be communicated via telephone number 011 2 61 61 61.
