Government hospitals to vaccinate children due to Midwives strike.
Government Medical Officers’ Association stated that they will resort to a trade union action if the Health authorities do not immediately resolve the trade union action by the Government Midwifery Association.
Speaking during a media briefing convened in Colombo today, the media spokesman of the government Medical Officers’ Association Dr. Navin de Soyza said that the authorities are afraid to resolve some of the issues cropped up in the health sector.
The Health Ministry stated that children who could not receive vaccinations due to the trade union action of the Midwifery Association, can visit government hospitals and receive their vaccinations.
The facility is available at all hospitals throughout the island.
The ministry has taken this decision, after receiving several reports of children being unable to receive their vaccinations.
