Bodu Bala sena secretary Galagoda-Aththe Gnasara thero asked to appear before police : Video
Police has called Bodu Bala Sena General Secretary Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thera to obtain a statement for his alleged threatening of some monks of Jathika Bala Senawa yesterday.
Slave Island Police stated that Gnanasara Thera was asked to present at 10am on the 12th of this month on the complaint made against him by Jathika Bala Senawa General Secretary Watareka Vijitha Thera.
In the invitation to Media, the Jathika Bala Senava stated that it would divulge the true facts about an extremist Buddhist group who targeted Muslim community and the real destruction that has caused to the Wilpattu.
Jathika Bala Senava General Secretary Watareka Vijitha Thera, several other monks and some Muslim representatives had been present at the media conference yesterday.
Later some Bodu Bala Sena monks forced enter the Jathika Bala Senava media briefing and the situation became tense with the arrival of Gnanasara Thera.
AT that moment, the Muslim representatives attempted to leave the place but they were stopped by Bodu Bala Sena members. Later Bodu Bala Sena presented the media a statement against Buddhism that has been made by Vatareka Vijitha Thera in Mahiyanganaya.
Before the gathering including the police officers, Vijitha Thera then said that he would apologize if his statement has caused any harm to Buddhism.
Having accepted the apology, Bodu Bala Sena left the premises saying that the problem was over.
After the incident, Jathika Bala Senava Secretary Watareka Vijitha Thera who lodged a complaint at Slave Island police told our news team that he apologized to the Bodu Bala Sena group in fear of his life at that moment.
