Public representatives also get a chance to fill in vacancies for Nurses, Supplementary and Interim officers
The Health Ministry has decided to provide an opportunity for Representatives of Parliament and Provincial Councils to fill in vacancies for Nurses, Supplementary Medical Officers, Interim Medical Personal and Family Health Officials.
However, names that are submitted by respective Public representatives will be subjected to a due interview process to ascertain if they possess the required qualifications.
At present vacancies amounting to over 10,000 are available but less number of applications have been received as only few come to the know of the vacancies published via gazette notifications.
However, Chairman of the All Island Nurses Association Gamini Kumarasinghe stated that this would allow political appointees to the vacant positions.
