Government accepts that resettlement in Wilpaththu is illegal

1,800 more families who were displaced by the war have been identified by the Ministry of Resettlement.

This was following a study conducted with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.

Secretary to the Ministry Janaka Sugathadasa stated that these identified families are residing in the North and East provinces.

Meanwhile the Bodu Bala Sena organization continuously voiced concern that a certain group had cleared a part of the Wilpaththu jungle and had settled themselves there.

General Secretary of the BBS Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thera even visited the area recently.

Secretary to the Ministry of Resettlement stated that this group had settled there forcefully.
