The entire nation celebrated the New Year which marks the transit of the sun from the house of Meena Rashiya to the house of the Mesha Rashiya.

The Punya kalaya began at 1.13 p.m. today and will last until 2.01 pm.

The New Year dawned at 7.37 am.

The most suitable time to light the hearth was at 10.17 a.m. attired in white facing the South and cook milk rice mixed with ghee and jaggery and a sweetmeat with sesame.

The auspicious time for partaking of meals for the New Year after starting work and holding transactions was at 11.05 a.m.
