Drop in number of accidents during the festive season
206 persons have been admitted to Colombo National Hospital within the last 24 hours during the Sinhala and Tamil New Year season.
Nursing officer in charge of National training at Colombo National Hospital Accident Services Unit Pushpa Ramyani de Soyza stated that, the number of accidents this year has dropped compared to the previous year.
Moreover, only one fire cracker related accident has been reported thus far.
Meanwhile, 5 injured persons have been admitted to hospital following a brawl between 2 groups who were intoxicated at Welikanda, Gampola last night.
According to the police, the brawl has occurred during a New Year party.
3 persons who received injuries have been admitted to Cinnamon Gardens Hospital, while the other two are being treated at the Gampola Hospital.
