Former Navy Commander clarifies reasons for banning Pro LTTE organizations
Australia says that it cannot come to a pre conclusion about the security situation in Sri Lanka.
The statement was made in the annual foreign travel advisory issued recently to Australians by its External Affairs Ministry.
The Ministry has also advised Australian citizens to avoid public protests and public meetings when traveling in Sri Lanka.
The Australian External Ministry has informed its NGO and diplomatic citizens to obtain permission from the Defence Ministry before visiting the Northern and Eastern Provinces.
Visitors to the North and East have been warned of landmines and danger signs of land mines.
Australian travelers to Sri Lanka have also been advised not to violate visa procedures as such visitors could be deported.
Meanwhile, Sri Lankan Ambassador to Australia former Navy Commander Admiral Thisara Samarasinghe stated that pro LTTE organizations that were supporting the LTTE from overseas were banned after long term observation.
