UNHRC officials have not requested permission yet to arrive in the island.

The External affairs Ministry states that members of the UN Human Rights commissioner’s office have not made a request to arrive in the island to carry out an investigation.

A US backed resolution against Sri Lanka was adopted at the UNHRC recently in Geneva.

However the external Affairs Ministry states that permission will not be granted to any members of the UN Human Rights commissioner’s office to arrive in the country.

Sri Lanka’s Permanent representative in Geneva Dr. Ravinatha Ariyasingha has already conveyed Sri Lanka’s stance regarding the resolution.
