Police hooted during the student protest near UGC
Another student protest against the Higher Education Ministry decision to slash the four-year Allied Health Science degree was held in front of University Grant Commission this morning.

Besides, University students have been holding ‘Sathyagraha’ campaigns at four different places to show protests against the ministry decision.
The main Sathyagraha has been launched at the Galaha junction in Peradeniya 119 days ago, and other Sathyagraha campaigns are being held in front of the Galle bus stand which completes 111 days today and in front of Colombo Fort Railway Station which completes 26 days today.
Meanwhile the fourth Sathyagraha is held in front of University Grants Commission which completes 16 days today.
Riot police was deployed near University Grants Commission as students started the protest this morning.
Our correspondents said that a tense situation erupted after several Senior Police Officers issued instructions to protesting students.
However Deputy Higher Education Minister Nandimitra Ekanayake said earlier that the Ministry finds it difficult to take any action as doctors have intervened in the matter.
