SLMC and JHU boycott debate on casino gazette.
The 3 gazette papers that were presented for hotel projects without casinos under the strategic development projects act will be taken up for debate next week.
However two coalitions of the government Sri Lanka Muslim Congress and Jathka Hela Urumaya said that they have decided to boycott the debate.
Accordingly approval will be sought after they are taken up for debate on the 24th and 25th.
The gazette with regard to the proposed hotel project by the Crown Casino owned by Australian Billionaire James Packer is also among them.
The Cabinet had granted concessions for a hotel project with gaming facilities, but it had received much objection even from some factions within the government.
Accordingly the gazettes were amended and these will be taken up for debate.
However, JVP Propaganda Secretary Vijitha Herath stated that they would vote against these bills.
However SLMC General Secretary MP Hassan Ali stated that let alone Casinos, his party is totally against the entire hotel project.
