Rahul Ghandi proposes a solution to Indo-Sri Lanka fishing dispute.
Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi said that the Congress-led UPA Government is aware of the problems faced by Indian fishermen with Sri Lanka and that it is committed to finding a solution “as soon as possible.”
He said it is mentioned in the election manifesto of the Congress to make a separate and dedicated ministry for the fishermen in India.
Meanwhile, Launching a blistering attack on Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, AIADMK supreme and Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa said the root cause of the problems and hardships faced by Tamil Nadu fishermen was the ceding of Katchathivu to Sri Lanka by former prime minister Indira Gandhi through accords signed in 1974 and 76 when DMK chief M Karunanidhi was the Chief Minister.
AIADMK Supremo and Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa accused Congress for showing concern for the fishermen only to gain political mileage.
