Chief Prelates of the three main Chapters expect to issue a joint statement this week asking the government to withdraw the proposed Casino gazette.

Chief Prelate of the Malwathu Chapter Most Venerable Tibbatuwawe Sri Sumangala Thera announced the decision when the representatives of the National Bhikkshu Council met the Chief Prelate to show their objection to the Casino gazette this morning.

Speaking to the media, National Bhikkshu Council President Venerable Rajawatte Wappa Thera requested all parliamentarians to vote against the proposed Casino gazette.

Meanwhile a group of Bodu Bala Sena representatives led by its General Secretary Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thera also paid a courtesy call on the Chief Prelate of the Malwathu Chapter this morning.

During the meeting, Bodu Bala Sena told the Chief Prelate that police have not taken steps to arrest Mannar Bishop Rayappu Joseph and Jaffna Bishop Thomas Saundranayagam for making statement to foreign countries against Sri Lanka.
