The police says that if a special Indian Central Criminal Bureau team visits Sri Lanka to probe the kidney racketeers and ask for its assistance it is prepared to cooperate with it.

Indian police have found that the kidney racketeers, had sent as many as 21 people from different parts of Andra Pradesh to Colombo for kidney surgeries in the last few months.

Two of the three arrested accused, D.S. Pavan Srinivas, an MBA student, and N. Venkatesham, were working for the racket led by a Lankan doctor, who would give them huge commissions for every case.

Srinivas, had already sold his organ to the same Lankan doctor several months ago.

The Lankan doctor allegedly sells each kidney for 3 to 5 million rupees to hospitals in Sri Lanka, and pays 500 thousand to 1.5 million rupees to the victims.

Our news team contacted Police media spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana to find out more details of the Kidney Racket.
