Health trade union action stops due to Presidents intervention.
Several Health Sector Grades have decided to stop the trade union action scheduled to be carried out today.
That was in consequence to a discussion held with President Mahinda Rajapaksa with regard to the problems of the employees of the relevant professions.
This discussion was held between Sri Lanka Freedom Employees’ Union members and the President last night.
Presidential Media Division announced that while on this occasion views were expressed at length with regard to problems affecting the relevant Health employees, the President’s attention was drawn on providing speedy solutions to them.
The Sri Lanka Freedom Health Services General Employees’ Union General Secretary Roy de Mel said it was decided to stop the trade union action scheduled to be carried out today as a result of the President stating that action would be taken with regard to steps necessary for solving these trade union problems submitted by several health sector grades.
