UN Secretary General’s special Rapporteur on Sexual Violence in Conflict Zainab Bangura has had a discussion with Sri Lanka’s UN Permanent Representative Dr. Palitha Kohona.

In a report prepared by Bangura, 21 countries have been listed where sexual violence is used in conflict and Sri Lanka is also included in the list.

The report prepared for the UN Secretary General was published at the UN Head Quarters in New York yesterday.

The significance of the report is that it has studied the incidents carried out during the year 2013.

Bangura also said that she would discuss the matter with a member of the Darusman report on Sri Lanka Yasmika Zuka next week.

When our news team contacted the External Affairs Ministry spokesperson said the Ministry has so far received no information about a discussion between Dr. Kohona and UN Special Rapporteur.
