UN Human Rights Council to keep a close watch on Sri Lanka till 2017 :Video
The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Navi Pillay, in a special 4 year plan has included Sri Lanka and hence will keep a close tab on the country till 2017.
In this document the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights notes that the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights will focus its efforts towards engagement by the international community, on issues such as accountability and reconciliation.
The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights also stated that they will be involved in monitoring and reporting and providing advisory services, advocacy and awareness-raising.
Pillay has also proposed that UN Country Teams use the recommendations of the Guidance Note of the Secretary-General on Racial Discrimination and Protection of Minorities.
