Action has been taken to transport the human bone fragments recovered from the Matale hospital grounds from China to the US for determining the period they belong to.
Police Media Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said that accordingly these bone fragments had been sent to an international laboratory in Florida in the US for inspection.
The Matale Court informed last year that the bone fragments recovered from the mass grave would be sent to Beiging in China for determining the period they belonged to.
Accordingly six bone specimens randomly selected from the 154 bone fragments recovered from the Matale human mass grave were sent to China for inspection.
These bone fragments were discovered when excavations were carried out for constructing a biogas unit in the Matale hospital premises.
It was revealed in tests carried out by a group of Kelaniya University Postgraduate Institute Professors that these bone fragments belonged to the period from 1987 to 1990.
