President to return to the island after a successful official visit to Bahrain.
Bahrain's Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman hosted a luncheon in honor of Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday in Manama.
Prior to the luncheon, the two leaders met briefly along with the respective delegations and held discussions focused on improving already friendly relations.
The high-level visits between both countries have recently enhanced ties between the two nations.
Sri Lankan President's visit is the first ever visit from a Sri Lankan head of the state and the visit is expected to further cement cooperation and collaboration between the two nations that share a long history of cordial relations, even before formal bilateral ties were established in 1992.
President Rajapaksa watched a documentary film which highlighted the multi-phased construction of the strategic artery bonding Bahrain and Saudi Arabia and emphasized its pivotal role in boosting the economic momentum and enhancing the volume of trade exchanges.
President Mahinda Rajapakse is scheduled to return to the island today.
