Nursing strike spreads to several hospitals - Heated situation still remains in Kurunegala hospital.
The Nursing strike that started at Kurunegala hospital has spread to several others hospitals in the island.
Although the three main nursing unions are striking in Kurunegala and Nagoda teaching hospitals, nurses in other hospitals have not joined the strike.
When contacted Government Nursing Association President Saman Rathnapriya said apart from Kurunegala and Nagoda, his union members attached to Colombo National Hospital and several other hospitals have resorted to trade union action.
Government Service United Nurses Association President Muruth-Thettuwe Ananda Thera told our news team although his union has not principally announced a strike; members of several branches have joined the strike.
Hundreds of patients have been affected due to the prevailing nursing strike.
