Heavy rains island wide today as well: water level in several reservoirs rises.
The meteorology department states that Showers or thundershowers will develop over most parts of the island particularly during the afternoon and night.
Heavy falls about 100 mili meters are expected at some places.
Showers can be expected at some places during the morning too.
Duty meteorologist Channa Rodrigo said there may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers.
The disaster Management centre stated that 2 deaths have been reported due to adverse weather.
Deputy Director of the disaster Management centre Pradeep Kodipillai stated that 94 persons belonging to 30 families were displaced due to over flowing of the Nawagaththegama – Andara-wawe.
Meanwhile, director of the water management division of the Irrigation department Janaki Meegasthanne stated that 2 reservoirs are spilling and 4 reservoirs have reached spill over levels.
