The Army, Navy and Police have initiated a joint operation to apprehend 3 individuals who had fled after dropping a T 56 assault rifle and several rounds of ammunition on the beach near the Serunuwara Lanka Patuna Pashana Pabbatha viharaya.

Navy Media Spokesperson Commander Kosala Warnakulasuriya stated that a sailor who was exercising on the beach had seen the suspects and had attempted to question them.

At this moment the 3 individuals had dropped the package they were carrying and fled the scene.

Elaborating further the Navy Media Spokesperson stated that upon checking the package the T 56 assault rifle and several rounds of ammunition were found in it.
