Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa said yesterday that from today another round of questions will be held for one hour after adjournment of parliament one day per every parliamentary week.
While even earlier such a round of questions had been held, it was decided to stop the questions round and debate an adjournment resolution since there was a similarity between questions asked at the beginning of parliamentary meetings and those posed after adjournment.
According to a parliamentary affairs committee decision, MPs will have the right to ask six questions after adjournment of parliament one day per parliamentary week.
The Speaker said that accordingly the Government party and the Opposition would each have the opportunity to ask three questions.
The Speaker said that the questions thus asked should be urgent and of general value.
