The Ravana Balaya Organization handed over a letter today to the Buddha Sasana Ministry Secretary requesting to remove the Special Police Unit to Investigate Religious Disputes.

Ravana Balaya Convener Iththekande Saddha-tissa Thera said his members will occupy the Ministry premises unless this police investigation unit is not removed before the Vesak Day.

The special police unit to investigate religious disputes was set up on the 28th of last month.

Ravana Balaya members met Ministry Secretary M.K.B. Dissanayake and Deputy Minister M.K.A.D.S. Gunawardana at the Buddha Sasana and Religious affairs Ministry this morning.

The monks explained the deputy minister and the ministry secretary that there is a possibility of abusing the complaints to the unit against the country.

The Ministry Secretary said that he would educate the subject Minister as well as Prime Minister D.M. Jayarathna on the views forwarded by Ravana Balaya.
