Railway Engine Drivers start work-to-rule campaign from today.
The Railway Engine Drivers Association has decided to engage in a trade union action during which they would adhere to safety regulations to the letter.
Speaking at a press conference held in Colombo today, the General Secretary of the Railway Engine Drivers Association K. N. U. Konthasinghe stated that due to this delays and cancellation of trains could occur.
Elaborating further he stated that the decision was reached after taking into consideration the faults in the railway signal system and issues faced by engine drivers when operating trains.
The General Secretary of the Railway Engine Drivers Association also expressed the following views regarding the train accident that took place in Aluthgama.

The Railway Engine Drivers’ Association has decided to enter a work to rule action from today onwards.
Speaking during a media briefing convened in Colombo today, the Association’s Chief Secretary K.N.U. Konthasinghe stated that there will be delays and cancellations of trains due to the trade union action.
He further stated that this decision was made after considering the issues faced by engine drivers due to the faults in Railway signal system and train operation.
