University students who violated court order arrested
The police says that action will be taken to arrest IUSF students who participated in a protest march and agitation without heeding court order.
Police Media Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said that the police was currently inspecting the video footage of the protest march and agitation held yesterday.
Inter University Federation students engaged in a protest march in Colombo yesterday despite a court ruling against it.
Having considered a motion filed by Cinnamon Gardens Police, High Court No.1 of Hulftsdorp ordered the Inter University Students Federation and Allied Health Science Degree Association day before yesterday to not hold protests or protest marches on Deans Road, Lipton Circus, Dharmapala Mawatha, Colpetty junction, Green Parth, Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Galle Road, Cinnamon Garden and Slave Island areas.
The Court also informed the two groups to hold such protests if necessary opposite the Fort Railway Station and in other areas without disturbing day to day activities of the general public.
