Former provincial councillor Ananda Kumara receives 2 years Suspended jail term: fined 50000 Teacher receives 300000 rupees compensation. -Video
The Puttalam High Court gave 2 years rigorous imprisonment on former North Western Provincial Councilor Ananda Sarath Kumara for ordering a female teacher of Navagaththegama Isuru Maha Vidyalaya to kneel down.
High Court Judge Priyantha Fernando ordered it for seven years suspended jail term and imposed 50000 rupees fine on the suspect.
The judge also ordered the former Provincial Councilor and suspect Ananda Sarath Kumara to pay 300000 rupees compensation to plaintiff and victim Susila Herath.
The Attorney General had indicted former Provincial Councilor Ananda Sarath Kumara for ordering a female teacher of Navagaththegama Maha Vidyalaya to kneel down and threatening her on the 14th of July 2013.
The victim teacher and members of the Lanka Teachers Association were present when the judgment was passed today.
