Paliyagoda UPFA Urban councillor’s death charged to be a political killing. -Video
Murdered UPFA Peliyagoda Urban Councilor Chamila Sandaruwan’s father Jayarathnage Dayananda charged that there was a political motive behind his son’s killing.
UPFA Peliyagoda Urban Council member Chamila Sandaruwan died on the spot after two armed men on a motor cycle shot him at a temple near the Tyre Corporation Junction in Dalugama at 11.15 this morning.
The two riders have first crashed into the rear side of Sandaruwan’s vehicle which was moving towards Kelaniya.
As Sandaruwan stopped his car, the gunmen shot him dead and fled the scene.
Another 19-year old traveling in Sandaruwan’s vehicle at the time of the shooting was hospitalized after receiving injuries during the shooting.
UPFA Kelaniya Pradeshiya Sabha member Hasitha Madawala was also shot dead by two gunmen near his home on the 16th of January last year.
Chamila Sandaruwan was shot dead while he was returning after appearing for a case against him in Kadawatha Magistrate Court this morning.
The 23-year old murdered Urban Councilor was the only member who voted with its former chairman Nihal Ananda for the council’s budget.
Sandaruwan’s father said that his son had closely worked with Kelaniya Chief Organizer Minister Mervin Silva until he was murdered today.
Police Media Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana told our news team that investigations into the murder this morning have been initiated from several angles.
