The Hiru Shakya Sinha Vesak ceremony and exposition of sacred relics organized by Hiru FM in collaboration with Hiru TV will begin tomorrow at 6pm at the ancient Mahiyangana temple.
One hundred thousand oil lamps will be lit and a pooja of fragrances will be held beneath the Mahiyangana temple where Buddha’s sacred hair relics are believed to be deposited.
Hiru FM, Hiru TV together with its parent company Asian Broadcasting Corporation invites all Sri Lankans to join them in their meritorious deeds which will continue until the 17th of this month.
Organizers have already made arrangements to conduct the Kapilawastu Relics from the Sri Vibhuthi Viharaya in Waskaduwa to the Mahiyangana ancient temple.
Beginning Thursday morning devotees will be given the opportunity of witnessing the rare Kapilawastu sacred relics which will be deposited at the Mahiyanganaya temple tomorrow.
Meanwhile devotees who miss the opportunity would be able to witness the sacred relics later when they are returned to the Waskaduwa Sri Vibhuthi temple.
