President Mahinda Rajapaksa visited several schools in Colombo today to meet students who have observed Sil marking the Vesak Week.
Over two million school students participated in Sil and meditation campaigns to mark the Vesak Week this morning.
Under the first leg of his visit, the President visited Colombo Nalanda College and witnessed students engaging in walking meditation.
Later he visited St. Paul’s Milagiriya where he met schoolgirls who had observed Sil and some parents.
While at Ananda College, President Rajapaksa listened to a sermon organized for the students.
Meanwhile the President also held a discussion with officials of the Ministry of Water Supply and Drainage at Temple Trees.
During the discussion the President said that new water supply projects should be implemented to give maximum benefits to the ordinary people but such projects should not disturb the people in any way.
